Range Rover Sport SV Black Edition Unveiled Globally: Range Rover has just pulled the wraps off the menacing new Sport SV Black Edition – a stealthy, sinister version of its already performance-packed Range Rover Sport SV.
With all the chrome and shiny elements stripped off, the Black Edition is all about commanding presence and stealth, both inside and out. While the global debut has taken place, the India launch is yet to be confirmed, although it is most certainly on the cards.
Highlights
All-black exterior and interior – zero chrome
Powered by the same 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with 626 bhp
India launch confirmed, pricing expected above ₹3 crore
Set to debut at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed
As the name suggests, the Range Rover Sport SV Black Edition is a darker and bolder take on the flagship performance SUV. It’s based on the standard Sport SV but ditches all the shiny trim elements for a completely blacked-out design theme.
On the outside, the SUV features a Narvik Black body paint that extends across the grille, badging, brake calipers, exhaust tips, and other exterior accents. Even the carbon fibre bonnet is painted black to blend with the overall stealth look. Complementing the theme are the massive blacked-out 23-inch alloy wheels that fill up the arches aggressively.
Step inside and the black theme continues without any break. The cabin features black upholstery, darkened accents, and illuminated treadplates on the doors bearing ‘SV Black’ branding. The only visible shine inside the cabin comes from these illuminated metal elements, while everything else has been wrapped in muted black finishes. The interior feels rich, sporty and very exclusive.
Performance: Same Brutality Under the Hood
While it may look stealthier, mechanically the Black Edition remains identical to the standard Range Rover Sport SV. Under the hood is the same monster 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with mild-hybrid assistance, churning out 626 bhp and 750 Nm of torque. It can rocket from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.6 seconds and boasts a top speed of 290 kmph – supercar territory in a luxury SUV body.
India Launch Timeline and Expected Price
Although Land Rover hasn’t officially announced the launch date, the Range Rover Sport SV Black Edition is confirmed to arrive in India. It will first be showcased at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed between July 10 and 13. The standard Sport SV is currently priced at ₹2.95 crore (ex-showroom), so the Black Edition is expected to breach the ₹3 crore mark easily, given its exclusivity and special treatment.
For luxury SUV buyers looking for brutal performance and an all-black, no-nonsense persona, the Range Rover Sport SV Black Edition could be one of the most desirable options coming soon.
