Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e Now Offered With 79 kWh Battery Option: Mahindra is expanding choices for electric car buyers by introducing a new 79 kWh battery option for the Pack Two variants of its BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs.
Earlier, this larger battery was limited only to the more premium Pack Three trims. With this move, Mahindra aims to give customers more flexibility based on their usage and budget.
Key Highlights
BE 6 and XEV 9e Pack Two variants now get optional 79 kWh battery
79 kWh pack offers 100 km more range and 54 more bhp
Deliveries for Pack Two to begin from late July
Prices start at ₹21.90 lakh and go up to ₹26.50 lakh (ex-showroom, without charger)
Price Comparison: 59 kWh vs 79 kWh Battery
Here’s how the pricing for the newly introduced configurations looks:
Customers will need to pay ₹1.60 lakh extra for the 79 kWh variant over the standard 59 kWh option.
Bigger Battery, Better Range and Power
The main benefit of the 79 kWh battery is an additional 100 km of real-world range, which will be especially useful for frequent intercity travellers. Along with range, power also gets a bump, with 54 more horsepower on offer compared to the 59 kWh variant. This makes the larger battery an attractive upgrade for performance seekers.
However, for most daily users, the 59 kWh battery already offers an impressive 400 km real-world range and 228 bhp — more than sufficient for urban and suburban use.
Customers will also have to consider charger options. The faster 11.2 kW charger will cost more but is expected to provide better long-term convenience.
Mahindra has confirmed that deliveries of the Pack Two variants — including both battery options — will begin by the end of July 2025. Those who have already booked the Pack Two variant will be allowed to upgrade their booking to the 79 kWh version if they choose.
In addition, Mahindra will now offer the BE 6 Pack Two variant with the sage leatherette interior and ivory roof lining, which was previously reserved for the Pack Three variant. This adds more premium appeal to the mid-level option.
Electric SUV Rivalry Heats Up
With Tata Motors also gearing up to launch its Harrier EV at competitive pricing, Mahindra’s move seems timely and strategic. Offering more configurations across price bands ensures that the brand can cater to a wider range of electric car buyers.
The Indian EV market is clearly heating up, and Mahindra has hinted at more action coming soon — possibly a major announcement around Independence Day.
Stay tuned for further updates as Mahindra continues to reshape its EV lineup in response to growing competition and customer demand.
