Honda City Hybrid Price Slashed: Honda Cars India has officially reduced the price of the City e:HEV hybrid sedan by a substantial ₹95,000. This brings its new ex-showroom price down from ₹20.85 lakh to ₹19.89 lakh, making it one of the most value-rich strong hybrid sedans in the Indian market right now.
This move places the City Hybrid almost back to its original launch price from 2022, which was ₹19.5 lakh. With the price drop, Honda is clearly looking to reposition the City e:HEV as a more accessible and attractive option for buyers who want premium technology, lower running costs, and advanced features without stepping into the all-electric territory.
What Makes the Honda City Hybrid Special?
The Honda City e:HEV isn’t just a badge update — it’s India’s first mass-market strong hybrid sedan and continues to be the only one in its segment. At its core is Honda’s i-MMD (Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive) hybrid system, which uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with two electric motors. This setup enables short-distance EV-only driving and delivers an impressive ARAI-claimed mileage of 26.5 kmpl.
One of the biggest advantages of the City e:HEV is that, unlike mild hybrids, it can drive on electric power alone thanks to its 0.7 kWh battery and dual-motor system. That puts it ahead of many petrol-only or mild hybrid competitors.

Loaded With Premium Features
The City Hybrid comes in the top-spec ZX variant and is equipped with several segment-first features, including:
- Honda Sensing ADAS suite (adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and collision mitigation braking system)
- Electric parking brake with auto hold
- Sporty design elements like rear diffuser, lip spoiler, and e:HEV badging
- Digitally-enhanced instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment with connected tech
All of this, now offered at a price of ₹19.89 lakh, makes the City Hybrid a highly appealing package.
Boosting Sedan Market Presence
With SUVs dominating the Indian auto market, sedans have taken a backseat in recent years. However, Honda aims to rekindle interest with this aggressive pricing. The City Hybrid currently has no direct rival in its price and technology bracket — Toyota’s hybrids are significantly more expensive, and other mid-size sedans like the Verna, Virtus, Slavia, and Ciaz don’t offer a strong hybrid alternative.
Honda’s VP of Sales and Marketing, Mr. Kunal Behl, commented that while overall demand for sedans has been tepid, the company is optimistic about a strong rebound in the upcoming festive season, especially with improved liquidity and monsoon conditions.
Honda Amaze CVT Also Gets a Price Cut
Alongside the City e:HEV price drop, Honda has also made the Amaze VX CVT more attractive by slashing its price by ₹20,000. Now priced at ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), this sub-10 lakh pricing gives the Amaze a competitive edge in the compact sedan segment for buyers looking for a refined automatic variant.
Honda’s dual pricing strategy clearly signals a renewed push in the sedan space — with smart hybrid tech and accessible pricing, the City e:HEV is now an even stronger contender for buyers looking to bridge the gap between ICE and EV.
