Mahindra is gearing up for a bold new chapter with a mix of powerful ICE SUVs and futuristic EVs in the pipeline. Having already made a strong name for itself in the premium SUV space, Mahindra now plans to launch seven new ICE SUVs and five EVs by 2030 — and the next wave of updates starts as early as next year. Among the first to arrive are the facelifted versions of the Thar and XUV700, and a brand-new electric SUV, the XEV 7e.

Highlights

  • New Mahindra Thar and XUV700 facelifts expected within a year
  • First-ever Mahindra XEV 7e likely to arrive before both
  • XEV 7e may offer up to 600 km of range and 3-row seating
  • Thar facelift to get styling updates similar to Thar Roxx

New Mahindra Thar: Fresh Look, Same Tough DNA

First launched in 2020, the current-generation Thar has been a huge success, but it’s finally getting a much-needed visual refresh. Codenamed W515, the facelift will likely borrow many design cues from the more premium Thar Roxx variant. Expect to see a bold new front with double vertical slots in the grille, LED headlights with C-shaped DRLs, and redesigned alloy wheels.

Inside, Mahindra is planning to modernize the cabin with features like a new steering wheel, a larger 10.25-inch infotainment display, a full-digital instrument cluster, and even a sunroof for the hard-top variant. Mechanically, the Thar is expected to remain unchanged, continuing to offer solid off-road capability.

New Mahindra XUV700: Refined and Reimagined

The current XUV700, launched in 2021, will soon get a mid-life update to stay competitive in the premium SUV space. Spy shots suggest exterior updates such as new dual U-shaped headlamps, a redesigned six-slot grille, revised bumpers, and possibly new 18-inch alloys.

The cabin might receive a complete revamp too, with Mahindra considering a triple-screen setup inspired by its upcoming XEV 9e. A new dashboard layout and updated interior materials are also expected. Like the Thar, this facelift is unlikely to have any mechanical changes and could launch in the next 12 months.

Mahindra XEV 7e: Mahindra’s New Electric Flagship

Before the updated Thar and XUV700 hit the roads, Mahindra is expected to debut the all-electric XEV 7e — a more family-friendly SUV version of the XEV 9e coupe-SUV. Unlike its sportier sibling, the XEV 7e will offer three-row seating and practicality similar to the XUV700, but with all the tech and performance of a modern EV.

The XEV 7e is expected to feature two powertrain options: a 170 kW (228 hp) motor and a more powerful 210 kW (282 hp) unit, both delivering 380 Nm of torque. With battery pack options of 59 kWh and 79 kWh, it may offer a range of up to 600 km and 0–100 km/h acceleration close to 7 seconds.

Tech features will be top-notch, including a gesture-powered tailgate, frunk (front trunk), adaptive suspension, 12.3-inch passenger display, and AutoPark. Essentially, Mahindra is positioning the XEV 7e as a premium family EV to rival offerings from established global players.

        Conclusion

With the Thar and XUV700 facelifts coming soon and the XEV 7e set to kickstart Mahindra’s high-end EV lineup, the brand is ready to push boundaries once again. Whether you’re an off-road lover, tech enthusiast, or eco-conscious buyer — Mahindra’s upcoming range has something for everyone.
